Bojangles
Bojangles, a sweet appaloosa pony was rescued in January 2008 after his owner threatened to shoot him. He was no longer useful to his son because he became blind in both eyes. Why feed a horse that needs extra help??? Bojangles resides at Equine Voices and is loved by all who meet him!
PMU Mares in Canada
Fall, 2007. For the second year, we joined forces with the United Pegasus Foundation in saving as many of the 192 horses from 2 “out of work” PMU ranches, and a feedlot, in Canada from going to slaughter. The first truckload arrived on October 18, 2007, bearing 22 horses. Eleven of these horses were pre-placed by adopters in Arizona. Equine Voices brought six mares- five of them pregnant, and five foals to Equine Voices. We sent out a plea and broadcast a flyer to all throughout our database, which facilitated more horses saved and pre-placed by people in other states. We are in the process of getting more rescued, and a second truckload sent in November.
Starvation Case – Chocolate
Chocolate was starving and was saved in 2006. He barely made it home, skin and bones and dehydrated. It was said that Chocolate was 14 years of age, but his real age was 29. Now over the age of 33, Chocolate is one of the ambassadors at the sanctuary and loves to roam free visiting the residents that reside at the sanctuary.
Ranch One horses
In the fall of 2006 we sent out a plea to help organize a load of Ranch One horses to Arizona. For those of you who answered our call, thank you!! The mares and foals arrived November 16, 2006 and are now tucked away in their new homes.
