“What you do speaks so loud I cannot hear what you are saying.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
On March 7, 2005 a local Tucson group of concerned citizens hand delivered 430 letters to Senators’ McCain and Kyle asking for their support in co-sponsoring bills H.R. 503 The American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act and H.R. 297 – A bill which would restore the 1971 Wild Free-Roaming Horse and Burro Act.
Even after appointments had been set and confirmed, neither office kept their appointment, even their staffers were not available for the scheduled meeting. If you are a horse lover, and one who believes in our right to have our voices herd, and this angers you, please help us collect twice the number of letters to be hand delivered once again. We will not stop until these Senators listen to their constituents. Although we were not taken seriously by these two offices, we were successful that day, as Rep. Raul Grijalva committed to being the first in Arizona to co-sponsor both bills. On behalf of the horses, thank you Mr. Grijalva!
Please help us help the horses. Call, write and email these Senators and ask them for their support in ending horse slaughter in America! To find your representative log on to www.congress.org.
