Taylor and Barbara Willoughby April 2010

Rescued on July 30, 2009 from the property of one of the most brutal “Killer Buyers” in Arizona. After going to rescue a Jenny mini-mule and a mare that were taken to auction by Arizona Livestock, we found Taylor hobbling on three legs and waiting to be loaded on the kill truck the next day.

Equine Voices bought Taylor and took her to the Gilbert Equine Hospital where x-rays were taken and that’s when we found her leg to be fractured. Taylor had major surgery on Friday (the day she was to be shipped in a double decker trailer to Mexico for slaughter). Taylor, named after her surgeon, Dr. Taylor, arrived home on August 10th, 2009. We desperately need funds to help pay for her $6,000 surgery.

Surgery 2
Thank you to all who have helped us with Taylor’s vet bills and recovery. Due to an infection that developed at the 7th screw, it was necessary that we remove the plate that held Taylor’s leg together. Successfully, the plate has been removed and today Taylor is recovering at the sanctuary. She is massaged with essential oils and walked daily. With continued love, attention and special care from Jean and our volunteers, Taylor is on her way to recovery.
